Letter of Intent

To Whom it May Concern,

This letter is written to express my profound interest obtaining an internship in the field of Computer Information Systems. I hope to use my knowledge and first hand experience gained from it to further my understanding about the topic and how it is used in our society today. After I graduate from Rider University(2013), I plan on attending Graduate School to pursue a higher degree of learning to further advance my education and add to my qualifications.

I currently am part of five different organizations at my university. Of these five, I currently hold executive board positions for two of them Public Relations of Gay Straight Alliance as well as Stage Entertainment Chair for Student Entertainment Council. With such experience and responsibility that is required to uphold both of these positions, I feel as if I possess many of the redeemable attributes required to make both a strong leader and great success in my work field of choice because of the necessary interaction and work involved.

I would greatly appreciate an opportunity do discuss my qualifications as well as how I would be a potential valuable asset to any company if given the opportunity. My self motivation, work ethic and drive can assure any employer that a task given to me will be completed beyond the best of my ability. Please do not hesitate to browse through my Resume to view my past experiences and other qualifications. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
Willie Ignatius Emanuele

Education

I graduated from Saint Peter's Preparatory High School in 2009 with Secondary Honors as well as the distinguished Father J. Browning award for exceptional Community Service. Today, I am currently a freshman at Rider University and double majoring in Computer Information Systems and Entrepreneurial Studies. With a hopeful degree in both of these concentrated areas of studies, I hope to work as a Technical Software Engineer and progressively build my own successful business in the same industry. I am currently an active member in a wide variety of organizations on my campus including Multi-Cultural Student Leadership Institute, Latin American Student Organization, Student Entertainment Council and Gay Straight Alliance. In the near future I will begin to take courses in my particular major involving Computer Information Essentials, Statistics, Microeconomics and Small Business Management. Courses such as these will give me the basic fundamentals to further comprehend my intended career path and how to be a successful professional in that particular field.

Biography

I was born on June 14th to Margarita and Willy Emanuele in the Jersey City Medical Center. Strangely enough, I was born on the exact same day as my sister but six years after she was born. My family had migrated here from Lima, Peru during the seventies so that they could strive and work to obtain better employment opportunities than those that had been made available to them back in their native country. I was raised under my parent's idea that "I can accomplish absolutely anything that I stuck my mind to, and for those that didn't believe, I should make a liar out of them". I maintained this mindset through my entire life and still carry it with me today. As a young child, my Father encouraged me to attempt many new things to challenge me both mentally and physically regardless of the difficulty. I tried chess, soccer, baseball, basketball, science camps, and Civil Air Patrol. It wasn't until I reached high school where I was influenced by my coaches, faculty and fellow students that made me the self-motivated, dedicated and hard working individual that I am today.

First, was my exposure to Campus Ministry and Community Service. I had never really understood why I should give my time to others if they hadn't done anything for me. Through first hand experience volunteering at Camp Kismet in West Virginia is where I had learned that it was something needed to be done. I adopted the philosophy to lend a helping hand as much as possible and always with the mentality that no reward was needed so long as it got accomplished.

Campus Ministry was another aspect of my high school career of which I was very grateful for. It was through this that I developed my more spiritual side which helped me lead others on Catholic weekend retreats through my senior year.

Finally, there is my passion above all else:

I can proudly say I spent my time productively throughout high school. I was very involved in the Hispanic Society, Mission Drive, Italian Club, and Intramural Club(founder). All of which by my Junior year I held a Vice-President position or higher. All of my activities both in and outside the classroom helped me develop myself into a well-balanced, time orientated, leader that can bring both positive change and refreshing ideas into any organization or classroom.

Examples of My Work (Written)

Mark Lloyd and Freedom of Speech was a paper I wrote for my Expository Writing class about Mark Lloyd being appointed the new Chief Diversity Officer of the FCC and the changes he wants to make.

Boys vs. Girls, Who's Smarter? is another paper done for Expository Writing discussing the controversial modern day issue of which sex is actually the more intelligent one.

This Entertainment Speech Outline is a small insight to one of my presentations I made during my Intro to Speech and Communications course and what material I used.

Examples of My Work (cont'd)

Below are some of my more informative and media interactive presentations that I have done for my classes.

Work Experience

Up until this point, I have held 3 steady employment positions, all related within the food industry. My first job was as a cashier at Helen's Ice Cream which was part of Helen's Pizza. My intent behind acquiring this position was to begin to understand the value of dollar as well as being responsible for my own personal income. As I grew a little older, I wanted something more challenging. Afterward I discovered an availability at The Hoboken Gourmet Co. as a waiter. This position allowed me to interact with customers on a more personal basis and trained me to be available to balance multiple tasks at once. Both of these positions served useful for my most recent job at Aramark Catering Service as a banquet server. This position requires a great deal of competence in the food serving industry as well as quick and efficient service to properly satisfy the customers. I feel that the skills I've obtained from my prior work experience will be useful to me because of the amount of interpersonal skills as that are involved. I feel that in the future I will put these to good use and they reflect in my advancement in the workplace.

Community Service

A side note about myself that many do not know is that I am very passionate about both Rugby as well as Community Service, especially the Higher Achievement Program which I volunteered at during my summers of high school. I did not seek satisfaction in the idea that I was doing something good but more of the idea that someone else was living a little easier now rather than having to struggle. I strive to make it a virtue of mine to help out as much as possible regardless of how small or large the action may be.

Unexpectedly, as a result of the time and effort I put into this, I was honored with my high school's most prestigious award, The Fr. John Keenan Brown Award. It symbolizes countless hours of selfless work given by one individual that sought nothing more than a job well done rather than compensation:

All of these experiences and opportunities truly brought together my 4 years of secondary education and makes me want to strive to see how much more I can accomplish as well as how much more of a difference I can make at the University level.

Thank You..

Thank you very much for taking time to look through my virtual portfolio. This is a small insight as to the boy I was, the individual I am today and the man I hope to be one day. My past experiences and people that I met have contributed to my development as a student and person. I hope that with this blog I was able to portray a desirable side of myself that employer's would want to make part of their workforce. I will be updating this blog continuously with more events to come, thanks again!
